What is Forest Management?

Forests produce timbers and environmental services at once. For instance forests control erosions, conserve water, breed wild life and request carbon. Thus forests contribute to public benefits.

To maintain and develop these functions, consistent planning and conservation schemes are required. We study these schemes and corresponding techniques such as mensuration, Yield prediction, GIS and so on.

Examples of Our Study

  • Developing growth prediction model for multi-storied plantation forests
  • Creating forest management plans using GIS
  • Estimating carbon sequestration by forests according to Kyoto Protocol
  • Assessing maturity of forest resources with age distribution
  • Analyses of stand structure using high-resolusion remotely sensed data
